U.S. House, 4th District: what did each candidate actually say they'd do?

Where they agree

• All three want more affordable housing, by different routes. Foushee: "force developers to build housing people can actually afford."² Ganorkar: "Promote policies that increase housing supply and homeownership opportunities."⁵ Meilleur: "Allow duplexes and triplexes by-right wherever single-family homes are permitted in low-density areas."¹¹
• Foushee and Ganorkar both criticize tariffs. Foushee is "standing up to Trump's tariffs."² Ganorkar: "excessive tariffs and protectionism often raise costs for consumers and small businesses the most."⁵
• Ganorkar and Meilleur both want school money to follow the student. Ganorkar: "Funding students directly through school vouchers applied through parents' tax-return."⁵ Meilleur: "Refocus education funding by having tax dollars follow the student."⁹

Where they really split

• Health care: Foushee is "a fierce advocate for Medicare for All."² Ganorkar wants "healthcare vouchers directly to citizens through the tax-filing process."⁵ Meilleur would "Transition the current Medicaid direct payment model to a state-funded health savings account."¹⁰
• Taxes: Foushee supports "increasing taxes on large corporations and high-income earners."² Ganorkar would "eliminate income taxes for individuals over 63."⁵ Meilleur says "The savings will reduce taxes, and the deficit."⁶
• Immigration enforcement: Foushee wants to "ban ICE agents from wearing masks."² Ganorkar wants "immigration based on merit, the rule of law, and assimilation."⁵ Meilleur backs "passing the Lankford Border Bill."⁶

• Foushee spells out how on three of her ten issues (ICE, taxes, education) and gives numbers on two. She names no funding source or timeline on any.²
• Ganorkar spells out how on four of his twenty issues (education, health care, seasonal workers, budgeting) and names no funding source or timeline on any. His live site no longer shows these pages.⁵
• Meilleur spells out how on two of his nine issues (housing, instant runoff voting) and gives no costs or dates. Most of his pages argue for state policy, and his economy page repeats his education text.^{8, 9, 11, 14}
